Of Course: Snopes Defends Marxist BLM Leader’s Expensive Home Buying Spree

Fact-checker Snopes came rushing to Black Lives Matter founder Patrisse Cullors’ rescue, after the self-described “Marxist” faced criticism for going on a million dollar house buying spree

The liberal activist who has trashed capitalism, was called out for buying 4 homes recently, valuing at 3.2 million dollars in wealthy white neighborhoods. “Luxury real estate news” site, Dirt.com, reported about one of Cullors’ home purchases in Los Angeles, on April 7:

A secluded mini-compound tucked into L.A.’s rustic and semi-remote Topanga Canyon was recently sold for a tad more than $1.4 million to a corporate entity that public records show is controlled by Patrisse Khan-Cullors.

But liberal Snopes instead got upset over rumors that the activist may have used her organization’s donations to purchase the homes. Snopes writer Bethania Palma decried these “unproven” “baseless” allegations, writing “No Evidence” backed them up. (“No evidence” disproved them either.)

She added:

On the heels of that report, internet memes and rumors went on to claim that Cullors used donations submitted to Black Lives Matter to pay for the property. However, the initial report did not state that she used BLM donations to buy the home, nor has evidence to that effect come to light. Furthermore, reports characterizing the purchase as extravagant do so without noting that prices for single-family homes in Los Angeles are considerably higher than in other markets.

Even if Cullors didn’t use donations to fund her home purchases, she’s become wealthy profiting off of her BLM work, including a 2018 memoir, speaking fees and a “wide ranging multi-platform” television deal with Warner Brothers this past October. Some might call that Capitalism! Furthermore, Fox News reported yesterday that her consulting firm she chairs received $20,000 a month from a LA Jail Reform initiative.

The Snopes writer also defends Cullors buying an expensive home, by complaining that over a million dollars for a home in Los Angeles County isn’t extravagant and even calls it “relatively modest” compared to homes purchased nearby from big-name celebrities. So what? That still ignores the point that a Marxist, race-baiting activist buying expensive homes in white wealthy neighborhoods is the height of hypocrisy.

Snopes touted the Black Lives Matter organization categorically denying any organizational funding going to purchase of personal property, as well as smearing critics for putting “Patrisse, her child and her loved ones in harm’s way” and continuing “a tradition of terror by white supremacists against Black activists.” No fact-check from Snopes on that smear of Cullors’ critics, of course.
