Colbert to Tapper: Isn’t It Great How ‘Moderate’ ‘Boring’ Biden Is Compared to Trump?

colbert-to-tapper:-isn’t-it-great-how-‘moderate’-‘boring’-biden-is-compared-to-trump?

Joe Biden’s presidency is only “moderate” and “boring” to his propagandists in the media who spin or quickly lose interest in the problems his radical agenda has caused. But presenting the new administration as uncontroversial and middle of the road is exactly what Trump-deranged late-night host, Stephen Colbert and CNN anchor Jake Tapper want you to believe.

Tapper was guest on Colbert’s The Late Show Monday, where the insufferable duo delighted in how the Biden presidency was like a vacation compared to Trump’s. The journalist also bragged about how he wouldn’t book GOP “liars” on his show, encouraging other journalists to shun the likes of anyone but Adam Kinzinger and Mitt Romney.

After a warm welcome, Colbert teased Tapper about CNN’s critics. The late night liberal then praised the “moderate” and “boring” new administration:

STEPHEN COLBERT: Now then Jake, this is our first time talking since we got a new president, we’re a hundred days into the Biden administration. A this point do y’all over at CNN go maybe we were a little tough on the last guy?

[both chuckle]

COLBERT: Maybe– maybe we got too swept up?

JAKE TAPPER: No.

COLBERT: No? What have these comparably moderate and uh– boring has been thrown around a lot but certainly not blood pressure-raising days has been like?

TAPPER: Yeah. Well, it’s– I mean it is more like what we’re used to under previous administrations…

“Moderate?” Biden was hailed last week for setting the most progressive agenda since FDR. Since he’s taken office, we’ve experienced one of the worst border crises in our nation’s history, an administration who ignores our ally Israel under attack by terrorists, a dreadful jobs report, inflation and gas shortages like we’ve gone back to the 1970s. But sure, everything is just peachy because at least there’s no mean tweets.

After complaining about the GOP “civil war” against Liz Cheney, Colbert marveled at Tapper’s boasting he wouldn’t book Republican “liars” on his show:

Now you have said, and this made headlines, that you are not interested in interviewing or having somebody on the show who promulgates the lie that the election was a fraud or that the January 6th insurrection was not such. Like why– are you surprised that that made news that you said I’m not interested in those people?

The liberal journalist was equally flummoxed that his declaration, which he himself trumpeted, was newsworthy. “Yeah, I kind of find it unusual that people think this is notable,” he claimed, adding that other journalists should follow his lead in shunning Republicans (except for unpopular Republicans who CNN loves, of course):

Shouldn’t all of us in the news media be at least having this conversation? What is the worth in having somebody who is willing to lie about this election on our shows? There are plenty of Republicans who are not willing to do that lie, I have had them on. The governor of Maryland, and the governor of Utah, the governor of Arkansas, Congressman [Adam] Kinzinger, Mitt Romney, others, there are plenty of Republicans we can talk to.

Tapper added that it was “wasting our viewers’ time” to interview Republicans who “lie.” Forget the irony of the Russia-collusion-pushing CNN fretting about liars, is he suggesting that Democrats don’t lie? Is that why the Washington Post recently announced they couldn’t be bothered to keep up a database of lies for President Biden like they did for President Trump? Why no declaration from Tapper to ban Democrat liars from his show?

“Isn’t it, something we should be wondering, if they are willing to lie about the election, what else are they willing to lie about? And if we know they’re that willing to lie, are we wasting our viewers’ time?” the CNN host boasted.

Well, it’s– I mean it is more like what we’re used to under previous administrations. Here is an example. I had to add an anchor stop doing pre taped interviews during Trump because, here’s an example. At 2 P.M. one time I did a pre-taped interview with Governor Chris Christie. And then my show airs at 4 P.M. on weekdays, Eastern. And between the pre-taped interview and the show at 4:00, Trump fired Scaramucci. So these interview with Chris Christie was completely worthless. So he is gone.

COLBERT: So he is gone and the news doesn’t change as fast as it did before, so that.

TAPPER: He’s not entirely gone, I would say but yes.

COLBERT: You are right, he’s still with us down in Florida. And his influence across the GOP is enormous…

COLBERT: Now you have said, and this made headlines, that you are not interested in interviewing or having somebody on the show who promulgates the lie that the election was a fraud or that the January 6th insurrection was not such. Like why– are you surprised that that made news that you said I’m not interested in those people?

TAPPER:  Yeah. I mean to me it is not a policy, right. I haven’t booked any of them. But it no like I am saying I never will because I have no idea what tomorrow’s news is going to be. But as a general principle this is lie that is demonstrably false, thrown out by Republican governor, Republican election officials Republican appointed justices, U.S. Supreme court, all evidence, and we know that it is a dangerous lie that has lead to death and an insurrection. So yeah, I kind of find it unusual that people think this is notable. Shouldn’t all of us in the news media be at least having this conversation? What is the worth in having somebody who is willing to lie about this election on our shows? There are plenty of Republicans who are not willing to do that lie, I have had them on. The governor of Maryland, and the governor of Utah, the governor of Arkansas, Congressman Kinzinger, Mitt Romney, others, there are plenty of Republicans we can talk to. Isn’t it, something we should be wondering, if they are willing to lie about the election, what else are they willing to lie about? And if we know they’re that willing to lie, are we wasting our viewers’ time?
