With Trump Out of White House, DC Mayor Bowser Paves Over Black Lives Matter Plaza

Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser had the massive yellow lettered anti-Trump protest message “Black Lives Matter” located a block from the White House paved over now that President Trump is no longer in the White House. Bowser had the two block long message painted on 16th Street NW in response to Trump’s taking control of D.C. streets to shut down liberals rioting and burning the nation’s capital last year. Bowser dubbed the site “Black Lives Matter Plaza.” The move comes a day after the Biden administration opened Lafayette Square to the public for the first time since the George Floyd riots.

What came to be called Black Lives Matter Plaza–located at 16th and H Streets NW just above Lafayette Square and the White House–was the scene of several arson fires set by insurrectionists the last weekend of May 2020 who took advantage of the reaction to the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody to try to storm the White House. Dozens of Secret Service, Park and D.C. police officers were wounded in the riots by Antifa and Black Lives Matter terrorists. Arson fires were set at a federal building in Lafayette Square and the historic St. John’s Church, as well as nearby restaurants and office buildings. Attempts were also made to take down the equestrian statue of President Andrew Jackson in Lafayette Square.

Bowser rewarded the anti-Trump insurrectionists by permanently blocking the streets leading up to the intersection of 16th and H Streets and allowed liberal activists to turn Black Lives Matter Plaza into a no-go zone for Trump supporters who were harassed and chased away by Black Lives Matter thugs.

Bowser told the Washington Post’s Jonathan Capehart last week she was looking at turning the location into an art exhibit for Black Lives Matter. The street has recently been undergoing underground utility wiring which has disrupted the lettering. Bowser told Capehart the lettering would be permanent, but apparently did not mention they would be paved over this week.

In a live discussion with Jonathan Capehart of The Washington Post Thursday, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser said that the city plans to make Black Lives Matter Plaza “a permanent art installation in the District.”

Capehart: Let’s talk about Black Lives Matter Plaza, which was a genius move. I think I told you at the time. And a genius move that was emulated in other cities across the country. But it also provided a focal point that helped keep demonstrators… from spreading out across the city. The name is stretched on 16th Street between H and K Streets NW. That stretch has been officially renamed Black Lives Matter Plaza. But, are the big, bold, iconic, yellow letters permanent on that stretch of 16th Street?

Bowser: Well, they are. In fact, right now we’re undergoing a process to make the installation more permanent, with lighting and landscaping and all the things that you expect in an iconic art installation… We are going to make that installation and we’re improving it, actually, right now and it will be a permanent art installation in the District.

The words ‘Black Lives Matter’ have been paved over on DC’s 16th St north of the White House

Mayor Bowser painted the words in a jab at then-President Trump, successfully changing the topic when protesters were criticizing her

fairly sure it was paved over because they redid electrical wire beneath the street a few weeks ago

Flashback riot report from area Bowser would soon give to the rioters:

Same scene Monday:

An officer here says they opened the gate at 8 am. Note: the tall no-scale fence is still up — panels have been folded back to create entryways — and it’s not clear when the Secret Service will begin to take it down.
