Biden Allied Groups Will Partner With SMS Carriers To Push Vaccine

The Democratic National Convention and other Biden allies will partner with SMS cell phone carriers to distribute messages about the COVID-19 vaccine.

The groups will engage facts checkers and seek to dispel misinformation about the vaccine.

“We are steadfastly committed to keeping politics out of the effort to get every American vaccinated so that we can save lives and help our economy further recover,” White House spokesperson Kevin Munoz said. “When we see deliberate efforts to spread misinformation, we view that as an impediment to the country’s public health and will not shy away from calling that out.”

The news comes after the White House came under fire after President Biden suggested that officials would go door to door to ensure that people were vaccinated against the coronavirus.

“Now we need to go community by community, neighborhood by neighborhood and often times door-to-door – literally knocking on doors – to get help to the remaining people protected from the virus,” Biden said last week.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki defended the president’s comments, saying they were misinterpreted. Psaki said the president’s comments were directed at reaching areas with lower vaccination rates.

“Let me tell you what this is and what it is not,” she said, pointing out that the federal government is not mandating vaccines. “What this effort is is a continuation of what we have seen as an impactful effort that we’ve had by local public health officials and volunteers in a range of communities over the last month of action.”

Psaki said the White House will use local outreach tactics to encourage people to get the vaccine, effectively using local figures to pressure the community to get vaccinated.

“We’re going to continue to deploy the tactics that we’ve seen effective over the last few months,” she added

Some prominent conservatives are concerned about the constitutional implications of the White House’s tactics.

“How about don’t knock on my door. You’re not my parents. You’re the government. Make the vaccine available, and let people be free to choose. Why is that concept so hard for the left?” Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, tweeted.
