Vladimir Putin must be shaking in his boots.
Joe Biden on Monday held a joint press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz after meeting with him in the Oval Office.
Biden and Scholz discussed their approach to deterring Russia’s threats against Ukraine, Biden said.
Joe Biden said the Nord Stream 2 Pipeline will be halted if Russia invades Ukraine.
The Nord Stream 2 pipeline would allow Russia to bypass Ukraine and Poland and deliver gas to Germany.
In 2019, the Trump Administration put economic sanctions on companies and executives involved in the building of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, but Biden waived the sanctions after him and his allies received money from a top Russia lobbyist.
A Reuters reporter asked Joe Biden how he plans to stop the Nord Stream 2 pipeline from being finished.
“If Russia invades, that means tanks or troops crossing the border of Ukraine again, then there will be no longer a Nord Stream 2. We will bring an end to it,” Biden said.
The Reuters reporter pressed Biden: “How will you do that exactly since the project, and control of the project is within Germany’s control?”
Biden had no answer.
“I promise you, we will be able to do that,” Biden said smirking.
