The heartbroken father of a Tennessee nurse shot dead in a 2020 road rage incident lunged at her alleged killers in court this week, before being restrained by court clerks.
Tearful father Rick Kaufman charged toward two men accused of shooting his daughter as he met them in person for the first time at a preliminary hearing ahead of their trial. He was temporarily removed from the Nashville courtroom.
Devaunte Hill and James Cowan face murder charges over the death of Caitlyn Kaufman, 26. The ICU nurse, was driving to her shift at Ascension St. Thomas Hospital on December 3, 2020 when she encountered Cowan and Hill on a roadway.
An informant told police that Hill became enraged after Kaufman cut them off and began shooting at her vehicle.
The native of Pennsylvania managed to maneuver her car to the shoulder after being hit, but died shortly thereafter before she could call 911.
Kaufman was allowed back into court Wednesday, and dabbed tears from his eyes as Cowan and Hill entered once again.

A lead detective told the court this week how a responding officer spotted Kaufman’s car on the side of the road and assumed it had been involved in an accident.
But as he approached, the cop saw bullet holes in the vehicle and Kaufman slumped over the steering wheel. The car was still running and her foot remained on the brake.
Hill was arrested six days after the shooting while Cowan, who was found with two pistols in his car, was taken into custody roughly a month later.

Cops said cell phone data placed both men in the vicinity of the shooting and that they have criminal histories.
The case is scheduled for trial in January.
“We can’t understand how there is somebody out there that could do this to her,” a relative told WKRN after her death. “She loved what she did, being a nurse. She loved helping people.”
Feel bad for the father and family. If the shooters were white and victim was black it will be front national news. This fucking media has become racist and instigators of the increasing violence that we will see in the foreseeable future.
