In Major Reversal of Covid Plans, Hawaii Dem Governor Will NOT Require Tourists to be Boosted

Hawaii Governor Ige

Hawaii’s Democrat Governor David Ige on Tuesday announced he will no longer require travelers to be fully vaccinated *and boosted* in order to skip the mandatory quarantine.

Just a few weeks ago Ige announced travelers who do not have the Covid booster will be ordered to quarantine for five days.

Here we are just a few weeks later and Ige announced a major reversal of his Covid vaccine mandate plans.

“In making this decision, we considered declining COVID-19 case counts in Hawaii, the continental U.S. and Europe,” Ige said in a statement. “Hospitalizations have also dropped.”

There has been much speculation about booster requirements for travelers arriving in Hawaiʻi. I want to emphasize that the program remains unchanged at this time and boosters will not be required for up-to-date status.

Governor Ige said he made the decision on Covid boosters with Hawaii’s four county mayors.

All four county mayors, the DOH, and visitor industry leaders have coordinated closely in making this decision – which took into account declining COVID-19 case counts and hospitalizations, as well as Hawaiʻi’s robust vaccination rate.

Numerous Democrat governors this week announced they are lifting their statewide mask mandates because of bad poll numbers.
