Netflix Cancels Lesbian Vampire Show Due to Low Ratings

Netflix canceled a lesbian vampire show due to low ratings.

According to Deadline, Netflix canceled ‘First Kill’ after just one season.

Deadline reported:

Netflix will not be picking up a second season of First Kill, its teen vampire drama series executive produced by Emma Roberts.

Netflix’s renewal/cancellation decisions usually come down to viewing versus cost. First Kill, which starred Sarah Catherine Hook and Imani Lewis, featured mostly up-and-coming talent and had a decent run based on Netflix’s Top 10 viewership figures.

Released June 10, First Kill cracked into the streamer’s weekly Top 10 for English-language TV series with its first three days of release, ranking No. 7 (No. 3 non-Stranger Things title) with 30.3M hours viewed. It peaked at No. 3 in its first full week of release with 48.8M hours viewed, only behind Stranger Things 4 and Peaky Blinders Season 6, and spent one more week in the Top 10 before falling off. The series easily cleared 100M hours viewed in its first 28 days of release.

The social justice warriors were upset the lesbian vampire show was canceled.

Netflix is legit going down in history as lesbophobic and racist and they can’t do anything about it! #SaveFirstKill #CancelNetflix

Like my thing is we’re never going to get a dark skin lesbian lead again. Like this was rare for media. This was a rare sighting for people that look like me. And they just canceled it. Like I still can’t process this shit bro #cancelnetflix #SaveFirstKill
