On the latest NewsBusters Podcast, we discuss how the networks obsess over every finding of the hyper-partisan January 6 Committee in the House, and how they tout their “historic rebukes” of Trump by “holding accountable” his former staffers (like chief of staff Mark Meadows) with “criminal charges” of contempt of Congress. But when a Republican-majority House held Obama’s Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt, they were bored, often just offering tepid briefs of 30 seconds.
CNN in particular obsessed over text messages that Fox News stars went to Meadows pleading for Trump to urge an end to the rioting. This was odd, considering their lack of interest in Don Lemon’s text messages to Jussie Smollett, not to mention Chris Cuomo’s incessant emails to his brother’s staffers at the governor’s mansion in New York.
By contrast with all the 1/6 “accountability,” it’s become softball season on television for the Bidens and for Hillary Clinton, with CBS and NBC offering promotional platforms for Democrat messaging, for “Build Back Better” and against spineless democracy-destroying Republicans.
